As a girl who is proud of her origins, I was so thrilled to find out this week that D.O.M., the restaurant owned by one of my country’s finest chefs, Alex Atala, was ranked fourth this year on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants!!! Wooooot!

This culinary award is in its tenth edition now, and it’s supposed to be equivalent to that small, practically unknown award ceremony in which professionals of the film industry win that bald, naked, golden fellow. Rings a bell??? So yeah, it’s a big deal and we’re incredibly happy that Brazil is becoming well-known for its culinary talents and ingredients. Atala’s restaurant, which I’m dying to visit as soon as I revisit São Paulo, is all about using local ingredients.
